For guests looking for grazing options, a sizeable ‘Sides’ menu with gastronomic bites take centre stage, with selections such as the Crackling Pork Belly that has been slow-cooked for 48 hours and roasted to a crackling crisp; the Charred Cauliflower served with a tangy yuzu veloute; the Bacon Tempura; and the Grilled Asparagus served with garlic miso cream.
One of the highlights is the Duck Confit Donburi where crispy pan-seared duck leg is served on top of warm Japanese short grain rice and drizzled with a homemade Babette sauce; while the Steak & Foie Gras Donburi promises decadent indulgence with a marbled cut of grass-fed sirloin steak paired with creamy pan-seared foie gras. And while most of the dishes are prepared using classic French techniques, Japanese ingredients are also a mainstay feature in the main courses as well. The seafood is marinated with Babette’s in-house sauce for a punchier offering.
The signature Babette Chirashi Donburi is a new interpretation of the bara-chirashi don served with an assortment of sashimi-grade salmon, fish roe, and topped with Japanese pickles, scallops, tuna, and tamagoyaki. The range of sauces, are also made in-house daily.
The menu draws inspiration from familiar flavours in comfort dishes, from the yuzu veloute to the garlic miso cream, but often with a tongue-in-cheek ‘Babette twist’. For a lighter alternative, choose the Salmon & Soba, where the salmon is prepared using the sous vide method and served with Japanese buckwheat noodles.
