What you should know about Reading Town
Reading Town Level Test (RTLT) was developed by Reading Town assessment development team in the U.S.A through extensive research and validity tests, following theories and guidlines of academic assessment experts. Hence, validity, it renders the highest level of accuracy, and reliability in diagnosing a student’s current English level and provides subsequent in-depth analysis. Unlike currently available assessment programs which are mostly based on a single set assessment, Reading Town Level Test (RTLT) was built on the three tier-system, which is virtually the first of its kind in the education industry. This level can assess a student’s level from pre-kindergarten to high school.

When a student enrolls at Reading Town, his or her level is diagnosed with the Reading Town Level Testing System, which places the student in a level equivalent to American/Canadian school standards. The program enables students to learn all aspects of the English language. It consist of phonics, comprehension, sight words, reading & speaking, vocabulary, grammar & writing, and library book reading.
Each student is assigned to a certain level based on an assesment. For one and a half hours, instruction includes book reading, a reading comprehension quiz, vocabulary, grammar, reading vocabulary words, and reading skills. The teacher to student ratio is 1 to 3, but the teacher provides one-on-one instruction. Intensive post-reading activities such as oral summary, written summary, comprehension check, discussion and debating, and vocabulary exercises using flash cards are conducted during the class.
We have six writing levels. (Level 1: Pre-Beginner, Level 2: Beginner, Level 3: Elementary, Level 4: Intermediate, Level 5: Advanced, Level 6: High School). We match each student’s reading level to our writing courses. Writing specialists conduct classes in the following sequence: narrative writing, descriptive writing, expository writing and persuassive writing. Our writing wise also includes complete preparation for the writing section of the SAT.
