30 years ago, in the sleepy hollow that is Pulau Ubin (Granite Island), a young boy grew up in compelling circumstances which required that he helped out at home whilst his parents earned a living outside. As time unfolded and he entered adulthood, paying homage to the place he grew up and loved, he started his very own Ubin Seafood . Today, Ubin Seafood has surfaced in the salubrious enclave of Bukit Timah. Instead of falling through the cracks of society, the young Chef Chua paid it forward and honed his culinary skills to perfection. At a tender age of 13, Chef Chua, when most teenagers thrive on mindless misadventures and frivolous indulgences, being a filial son spent most of his "play time" hovering over the kitchen stove preparing daily meals for the family. Indeed, Ubin Seafood has come a long way.
