Bushells Tea has been a part of Australian life for over 125 years. Through two world wars, we have raised our families, recessions and booms, bush-fires and cyclones, droughts and floods, looked out for our mates and kept our sense of humour. We carefully select our tea leaves from among the great tea growing regions of the world and expertly blend them so you can enjoy the same quality cuppa year after year, cup after cup.
The Tea Shop was an instant success with tea drinkers from far and wide, who recognised Alfred’s ability to select the finest quality leaves.
It started in 1883, when Alfred Bushell opened the doors to the first Bushell's shop in Queensland.
The Beginning.
Now, we'd like to take you on a journey back to where it all began.
Australians have always liked their tea a certain way. Whether we have it with milk or sugar or neither, we have always loved the taste of a truly full-flavoured cuppa. Generations of Aussies have grown up with Bushells, and we're proud to have been there every step of the way.
Is it as good as Bushells?.
We may not sit in the 'formal room' anymore, the saucer's may have gone astray and dunking a chocolate biscuit seems perfectly natural, but the one thing you can always count on, is Bushells knows the taste you love. And by that same year, Alfred 'The Tea Man' Bushell, was supplying tea to all corners of Australia.
Australia has been through a lot in the last 125 years. How we drink it today has changed a bit, had joined the expanded business and Bushell and Co moved into George St, Philip and Walter, Alfred's sons, because we believe the tea ritual has a special place in Australian culture.
By 1899, we still consistently measure our tea against the exacting standards that Alfred developed when he began building the Bushells name, full-bodied taste perfected by Alfred Bushell over 125 years ago.
