What you should know about Quilts and Friends
We offer a wide range of classes for groups or individuals. During school holiday we try to provide classes for younger students.
Give yourself a treat and visit the shop today, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere while sipping a cup of coffee or tea.
Every last Friday of the month we reserve a full day for charity sewing. Whatever you see can be realized in classes which are held in small groups of up to 8, with sessions in the morning, afternoon or evenings. Should you not find any tempting class, browse through our collection of quilting books and magazines for more design ideas. During this day we always work hard but with friendship and happiness.

At Quilts And Friends, we believe in sharing the joy of quilting. And one way of doing that is through our Quilters’ Reference Library. This has a wide range of patchwork and quilting books/magazines in English and Japanese which you are free to browse in-house for inspiration and project ideas. Some are the latest 2010 titles. (But no photocopying please.) The books shown below are just a sampling.
We also have a range of cotton fabric and yard dyed fabric ( "sakizome" ) from Japan’s top brands, among them Lecien, D’Selection and Olympus Kofu. This includes fabric designed by greatly sought after quilt artists Yoko Saito and Junko Matsuda which are just perfect for little pouches, bags or elegant taupe-accented quilts which speak of delightful woodlands or basketful of garden delights.
And for those of you who need to trace appliqué patterns or templates from your own books and patterns onto your fabric, we have a professional Florentine Artist’s Light box in the shop. You are welcome to use the light box in our sewing corner when it is not needed for classes.
Whether you are stash-building or are on a fabric quest for a quilt project, feel free to browse the bolts on our shelves and the fat quarters in our baskets to meet your fabric fix. This is a material obsession of the most wonderful kind - as you indulge in the sheer joy of being in the presence of gorgeous colours and textures. And if you need any suggestions or tips on fabric matching, we are only too happy to help.
We carry 100% cotton and cotton/linen fabric from quality brands from the USA - among them Robert Kaufman
